winter

Winter joins us today.
And my peach tree is starting to bloom because of her.
Though I'll admit I'm not so much welcoming her this year at all, nor perhaps now each year to come.
I think I've reached that uncertain age where I can confidently make such a bold assertion.
Instead I am just assigning myself to her steady recurrent presence.
Meeting her with a comfortable yet equally icy reception.
I am going to be counting the days waiting for Spring...
the warmth, the sunshine (oh, the sunshine) and the smiles that seems to so easily bring...
But I will move through her with grace.
I'm planning to create another record of her visit with weekly pictures just as I celebrated the Summer, every Monday, because she does still hold beautiful things in her grasp.
I don't have to be her friend but I will be a congenial host.

That last bit is particularly nice.

I used to love winter, but the past couple of winters...not so much. I have a sneaking suspicion that my relationship with winter is destined to go downhill from here. She is still lovely in her own way, though. There is no denying that.

The lack of light was the hardest thing for me to to take this year. I started to feel that I was drowning in darkness. oof. Glad that's over for a while. :)

I am not a fan of winter either. However, I think maybe it is because we don't have such beautiful blooms in it. Stay warm and enjoy the time spent snuggling indoors!

I'm with you on the icy reception of old King Winter. Stay on your throne i say old fella. I'll be waiting (not sure how much grace I can muster between coughs and sniffles) in my cosy bud cocoon for him to melt! ...So that I and our new bub can emerge in newness and warmth and sun in the dawn of the spring fairies!!

I'll be the odd one out here - I love winter. It is my favourite season. I am a winter baby though and it has been pointed out to me that I probably actually am liking the comforts of winter rather than winter itself....but still I just love the quietness, the cosiness and the aching beauty of it.

I'm glad it's summer here ;)
But I don't want to live at a place, where it's always summer.
I love the seasons and will visit you every week, to see your beautiful pictures!

I wish you a wonderful winter xo
