too much of one thing

Seems like I've been seeing a lot of this little doorknob lately.....coming and going......

and I've been doing quite a bit of this......

which is not a bad thing at all....but as for the time...well where is that going?
Am I the only one or is the time this year just spinning away and leaving me somewhere behind in it's swirling wake? Throw in a couple of shifts back at work and well I'm paddling. I seem to come to each afternoon lately with some sort of strange vagueness wondering what I've actually been doing with the day.
I definitely have not had my sewing machine out in way too long and my list of *I want to's* is growing by the day.
I definitely have not been spending enough time in my patch of earth....only stealing moments to snatch a quick yet longing look at what's growing and fruiting and then pull a few weeds between dashes to hang out clothes, bring in clothes, collect eggs and feed my gorgeous girls.
I even have a complete bed of bare soil just waiting to support a new crop.....

But do you know what.....today is quiet and I am not going to race time and try and do all those things I am longing to do. I am just going to do one....a different one. I am going to do something I haven't done for even longer than the others and sit and read my favourite magazine that I treated myself to this morning. Sit and read....just today....

The weekend will be for the garden and just maybe some sewing because we don't want too much of just the one good thing do we when we have the spare time?

Must be something in the air. My week's been similar--running, running, running, and wondering if I've really gotten anywhere. I'm currently stealing a sewing/blogging moment. Might steal a reading moment later. Enjoy yours!

I'm still thinking about your post on the earth turning...there is a subtle change in the atmosphere, the air smells and tastes different in the morning - hmm...autumn is coming.

This year has sped by for me too - far too much time away from home. Every time I have a day in front of me I get so excited about all the things I can do and some days I'm just asleep on my feet recovering from work and nothing gets done. Yes, good not to race time. Enjoy your reading and relaxing

I thought I recognised the magazine picture, one of my favourite magazines too. I have only had time to flick through it. Seems as if everyone is needing more time, I'm wondering where the week has gone. Good idea not to try and do everything at once, enjoy your "me" time.
take care
Pip

yes, i do believe you're right. the year is speeding by. it's practically march already. i feel ad though the days go by one after another and at the end of each i struggle to remember what i did. i usually come up empty handed. i feel really unproductive lately. and the cold, snowy winter weather is not helping.

Time... as mothers that's the thing we need more of, isn't it?
No wonder things are hectic if you've also gone back to work - juggling it all is no easy task.
Enjoy your weekend Leeane, hope you get to re-aquaint yourself with that patch of earth :)

(btw: I, too, keep thinking about that earth-turning post... you described the change so well)

I was just thinking the other day that I can't believe it's almost time to flip the calendar page again. March. Already??? Time does indeed fly.

I hope you had a lovely and restful day yesterday. And you are so right, the rest will wait for the weekend. :)

Time is speeding by for me also- somehow it often seems that way. I think especially with young children that need so much throughout the day (and night!) time zips away.

I think that's why I enjoy blogs so much- reading them and writing one- as a reminder to savor the little moments in a big busy day.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your own story with me. C-sections are so hard to go through, and I hate that you had to go through two. It is so worth it though, and time does have an amazing way of healing. But, no, you certainly don't forget. Hugs! :)

it's the hardest thing - juggling everything. what i find amazing is that now that all my children have gone to school, i was convinced i would have more time to myself - but it's been four weeks and i've been busy, busy, busy. oh well, keeps me happy.
hope you had an opportunity to indulge yourself this weekend, be it reading, gardening or whatever makes you happy :)

Oh, the spare moments that allow to sit, drink coffee and read a magazine are the best! Such a beautiful post!
