she came

She hung around the shadows yesterday afternoon.
Looming
Teasing
Hesitant.
Her wanting was palpable as she stirred the breeze on our skin and seemed to pluck the need from the soil.

She waited....

but she came.

On dusk she came falling, crying heavy drops amidst her growls from above. A steady rhythm with which to end the day and a drumming percussion on our nest to soothe tired limbs to sleep.
She kept company with the night but by dawn she was gone.

She departed leaving only a memory of her heavenly scent and a new fresh day washed clean by her too brief visit.... perfect for drinking perhaps the last of winter's tea and for longing for just a little bit more....please?

I love this post, i feel as though i have nothing to post about the rain now as you have said it all and done it oh so perfectly.
I do have to confess....
she visited me instead.
We have had alot of rain this afternoon. But she has departed again.
Bom says she will be back, but only she knows where she is headed next

Sleeping to the lovely sound of her on the tin of the roof is heaven.

I love the rain. Love, love, love it.
So, I love your post. I know those moments, when the air is heavy, the world becomes still and you know that it is coming soon. It never ceases to stop me in my tracks when those first drops hit the galvanised iron roof.
And the smell - just gorgeous.
Here's to more rain

She is lovely isn't she. I'm not certan I really noticed her before we got water tanks and started gardening more. I know I took her for granted. Not anymore. I treasure and appreciate her vivitis.

Thankyou for that lovely post.

Next time you see here, tell her I say hello.
We'll not be seeing her for a while, I think.

Your words just transported me back to summer when we were begging for rain...and when it finally came...sigh...such loveliness. Hope there's more headed your way.

Incredibly beautiful Leanne, wishing for your soils to be quenched and your cups overflowing! I can almost smell the scent of the earth mixing with rain one of my favorite smells!
